Our client is a division of a leading international company in the field of sustainable mobility. The company has a global industrial and R&D network, employing 2500 engineers working on transformative innovation projects. They are looking for a Project Engineer Composites.

The New Energies division focuses on R&D and manufacturing of fuel cell technology and hydrogen gas storage systems for car, bus, truck and train transport.

The core development, engineering and testing activities in the field of composite pressure vessels – for hydrogen storage – recently moved to a brand new facility in Genk (Belgium), suitable for accomodating the expanding activities.

Project Engineer Composites

Function

As a Project Engineer Composites you’re part of the multidisciplinary and highly skilled team based in Genk. You’re responsible for coordinating composite vessel development projects. You monitor all activities and data concerning the project and provide feedback internally and externally. Your goal is to deliver a thoroughly engineered production ready design while respecting timing, budget and safety requirements. You will also perform CAD and FEA activities.

A selection of activities related to your role:

  • Communication and consultation with the project client. Progress reviews, time-line adjustments…
  • Setting up the organization and structure for your project.
  • Identifying main characteristics of the manufacturing process. Defining the process flow charts and technical specification for each process step.
  • Selecting project materials regarding prototypes, semi-finished and finished products.
  • Managing the purchases required (materials, equipment…) from suppliers.
  • Supervising all purchasing, development, testing and other activities related to the project.
  • Reporting to the management team on project progress.
Skills and Qualifications

  • You have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or materials engineering.
  • You have a good understanding of polymers, composite materials and processing techniques.
  • You’re a hands-on engineer with an interest in project management.
  • You have good communication skills and you work smoothly in a team.
  • Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required.
