Engineering Manager Composites

Team management of 8 engineers // Knowledge of carbon fibre composites is required 

As Engineering Manager Composites you lead a team of 8 engineers. Most of them work from the R&D and Technology Center in Limburg, Belgium, while some are based in the USA and China. You and your team manage projects concerning the design and development of high pressure composite vessels for automotive industry customers around the world.

A selection of activities related to your role:

• Organization of the team according to project needs.
• Supervision and coaching of team members.
• Ensuring development and evaluation of team members

Furthermore, you and your team are involved in the following activities:

• Setting up the organization and structure for a project. Coordinating project team activities w.r.t. design and manufacturing process development.
• Communication and consultation with the project client. Progress reviews, time-line adjustments…
• Leading the vessel design activities with support of internal experts for CAD designs/drawings, mechanical simulations, analyses…
• Identifying main characteristics of the manufacturing process at prototype level. Defining the process flow charts and technical specification for each process step.
• Defining validation and certification needs in collaboration with lab team.
• Leading and supporting the prototype vessel production.
• Identifying needed materials and products and supporting purchase activities from suppliers.
• Reporting to the management team on project progress.

• Master’s degree in engineering, preferably materials engineering or mechanical engineering.
• Good understanding of polymers and of the design and/or processing of carbon fibre composites.
• You show leadership aptitude and you have a successful experience in team and/or project management.
• You have good organizational skills as well as an energetic, positive approach.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• You can adapt to working in a fast-paced, international matrix organization.
• Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required.
