Function
Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and other Mobile Robotics applications are growing in diversity, complexity and capability.
As a Lead Engineer Machine Safety you take an active role in current development projects of custom AGV’s: you make sure existing (safety) standards are met and guidelines are integrated throughout the machine / vehicle development and industrialization process. Perhaps even more interesting: you will play a vital role in defining the framework of safety standards for future projects and next generation machines / robotics!
- As a Lead Engineer / Safety Specialist you lead risk analyses in machine development projects;
- By interacting with Dematics and other KION Group R&D departments, you ensure that AGV safety plays a crucial role from the outset of new machine development;
- You interact with other departments / operating units in the KION Group to align safety related matters in vehicle manufacturing and systems implementation;
- You participate in R&D meetings with renowned suppliers / manufacturers of safety related equipment to ensure these companies make products that comply with Dematic / KION’s future needs;
- Throughout your role, you keep an eye out for improvement opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications
- You have a degree in Engineering;
- You have experience with machine safety related norms: ISO , CE , UL and/or ANSI preferably ISO 3691-4, 2006/42/EC, EN 1525, ANSI B56…;
- You understand what it takes to develop/make a safe machine or product;
- Experience in the field of automation equipment is an asset;
- You preferably have experience in an AGILE (development) environment;
- You have good communication skills;
- You’re willing to travel (max 20 %);
- Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of Dutch or other languages is a plus.
