Power and Control Engineer: Renewable Energy / Wind Turbines / 25% travel

Function

The Power and Control Engineer’s goal is to successfully develop high quality electrical, electronic and control systems of mid-size wind turbines (on-grid and off-grid systems) within budget and on time. As part of the R&D team you will be guided by senior team members and will work in close cooperation with Power and Control Expert.

 

The responsibilities of the Power and Control Engineer are mainly within the electrical, electronic and control domains as well as quality assurance, among them:

 

  • Contribute to research, development and innovation activities;
  • Generate technical documentation such as technical specifications, project reports, procedures, diagrams, drawings, certification files and manuals;
  • Create project proposals, develop new ideas and concepts and motivate improvements;
  • Design, dimension, select and secure electrical, electronic and control equipment related to wind power;
  • Ensure high quality results according to defined scope, budget and schedule, using scientific and engineering knowledge as well as industry best practices, norms and standards;
  • Contribute to quality assurance;
  • Establish and maintain excellent communications with stakeholders (internal: colleagues and partners, and external: clients, suppliers, authorities etc.);
  • Contribute to project development activities such as: on site assessment; on site supervision of implementation / commissioning of wind turbines;
  • Belgian HQ is located in Genk, Limburg province.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Educational background: electromechanical engineer/ electrical engineer/ electronics engineer / automation engineer / control engineer;
  • Ideally 3 to 5 years of professional experience – highly capable junior engineers are welcome to apply; experience in wind energy and/or solar photovoltaic industry is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills in the English and/or French language;
  • Ability to write high quality reports;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, critical thinking;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively work within multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Simulink…;
  • High level of commitment, energy and reliability;
  • Ability to travel, ~25% of the time.
