Our client is a division of a leading international company in the field of sustainable mobility. The company has a global industrial and R&D network, employing 2500 engineers working on transformative innovation projects. They’re looking for a Process Engineer.
The New Energies division focuses on R&D and manufacturing of fuel cell technology and hydrogen gas storage systems for car, bus, truck and train transport.
The core development, engineering and testing activities in the field of composite pressure vessels – for hydrogen storage – are moving from Zonhoven to a brand new facility in Genk (Belgium), suitable for accomodating the rapidly growing team.

Process Engineer Test Lab
(Electro)mechanical or chemical engineering background preferred // High Pressure (+ 15.000 psi) industrial testing facility
Function
As a Process Engineer you’re part of the multidisciplinary and highly skilled team based in Genk. You support activities related to the testing, tuning, evaluation, validation and certification of high pressure systems/products in R&D projects. You also lead improvement projects related to the high pressure testing laboratory. You identify improvement opportunities in terms of process and equipment and you lead the implementation of these projects.
Supporting the hydrogen testing activities:
- You propose and define the best test methodology, provide advice and define validation tests.
- You lead lab technicians and schedule tasks.
- You’re responsible for installation uptime and defining maintenance plans/needs.
- You review or write test reports.
- You participate in 8D problem solving activities of non-compliant tests.
Leading lab improvement projects:
- You identify future testing needs in close collaboration with the validation engineer and lab technicians.
- You propose improvements of existing process, methodology or equipment.
- You identify potential investments in order to increase lab test capacity.
- You benchmark suppliers and select the most suitable solution in terms of costs / specification conformity / safety.
- You manage implementation projects until commissioning of the installation.
Supporting R&D projects
- You contribute to the definition of validation tools used by the lab team.
- You create a network in the field of High Pressure Systems testing, especially in gas tests (H2 & CNG).
Guaranteeing lab safety:
- You take safety risks into account in the definition and execution of validation tests.
- You take part in actions defined by the laboratory manager and HSE responsible.
Skills and Qualifications
- You have a master’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, electromechanics, chemical engineering or chemistry.
- Experience in mechanical testing, hydraulic or pneumatic pressure testing, process engineering are all obvious assets.
- Knowledge of fluid and solid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials properties…
- Experience with LabVIEW and/or DIAdem for measurement data acquisition and processing is a plus.
- You’re a hands-on engineer with leadership skills and a strong safety orientation.
- You have good communication skills and you work smoothly in a team.
- Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required.
