Our client is a division of a leading international company in the field of sustainable mobility. The company has a global industrial and R&D network, employing 2500 engineers working on transformative innovation projects. They are looking for a R&D Project Manager Composites.

The New Energies division focuses on R&D and manufacturing of fuel cell technology and hydrogen gas storage systems for car, bus, truck and train transport.

The core development, engineering and testing activities in the field of composite pressure vessels – for hydrogen storage – recently moved to a brand new facility in Genk (Belgium), suitable for accomodating the expanding activities.

Function

As R&D Project Manager Composites you’re part of the multidisciplinary and highly skilled team based in Genk. You’re in charge of one or more programs aimed at bringing a new product or a process up to readiness level to be transferred to manufacturing sites.The scope of a program can range from a full product to a specific technological “brick”.

A selection of activities related to your role:

  • You drive the project team and coordinate activities to ensure flawless execution.
  • You interface with the R&D Director on all project issues, you ensure good communication and information flow within the project team.
  • You identify risks during the development phases.
  • You establish budget and manage development, tooling and other expenses of project within budget objectives.
  • You set the project planning, you anticipate deviations, risks and you take corrective actions.
  • You control the development costs and billable hours.
  • You prepare and present projects at gate (or other formal) reviews.
  • You support sales and business development activities.
Skills and Qualifications
  • You have an engineering degree or a relevant scientific degree.
  • You have 10 years of experience in project management. You’re accustomed to leading an R&D team.
  • You have a good knowledge of polymers and composites (processing) and you understand mechanics, electronics and thermal management.
  • You’re an open minded thinker with system optimization skills.
  • You have very good communication skills and you work smoothly in a team.
  • Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required.
