Group HSE Manager (Europe)

Function

This senior role reports directly to the Group Manufacturing Director. Providing strategic management and technical HSE oversight for McBride’s “Liquids” business, you will be responsible for seven manufacturing sites & offices across Europe, comprising liquid mixing and filling plants.

Having proven leadership skills, a solid HSE expertise, a thorough business understanding and a pragmatic approach to translating company policies to local initiatives, you will gain respect and influence change.

Requiring a practical approach, you will work closely with site leaders and site HSE Managers (as your indirect reports), forging a European team of local HSE champions. You’ll detect and exploit synergies between the sites and by driving exchange of best practices, you will support the local teams in achieving operational excellence and group objectives.

Being based in the Belgian HQ Estaimpuis (Kortrijk region), this role will require you to travel (mostly short trips), as being present at the factories is essential for team building and for the successful implementation of different HSE programs.

Skills and Qualifications

  • You possess a (Belgian) diploma in Occupational Health and Safety: “Preventieadviseur niveau 1”, “Conseiller en Prévention niveau 1”;
  • OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 regulation knowledge;
  • Language skills: sound knowledge of Dutch, English and French is mandatory;
  • Substantial HSE experience gained in a progressive, cross-cultural FMCG environment or equivalent manufacturing business;
  • You are experienced in developing, directing and motivating a team of (HSE) Professionals, preferably in a remote matrix network;
  • Experience with HSE specialties such as Behavior Based Programs, Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessment will be beneficial;
  • Pragmatic individual with proven leadership skills who is comfortable in a collaborative environment; you’re able to influence by strength of knowledge and personality rather than by direct management authority;
  • Excellent communication skills; the ability to influence on senior level and to build strong professional relationships;
  • Self-motivated, highly energised and committed;
  • You’re able to travel to all sites on a regular basis (most trips by car, average of 1 plane trip/month).
