The Structural Engineer’s goal is to successfully develop high quality structural systems for mid-size wind turbines and solar photovoltaic modules within budget and on time. As part of the R&D team you will be guided by senior team members and will work in close cooperation with the Aerodynamics and Aeroelastics Expert.

The responsibilities of the Structural Engineer Renewable Energy are mainly within the civil engineering and quality assurance domains, among them:

• Contribute to research, development and innovation activities;
• Generate technical documentation such as technical specifications, project reports, procedures, diagrams, drawings, certification files and manuals;
• Contribute to load calculations, towers and foundations;
• Prepare project proposals, develop new ideas and concepts and motivate improvements;
• Ensure high quality results according to defined scope, budget and schedule, using scientific and engineering knowledge as well as industry best practices, norms, codes and standards;
• Design, dimension, select and secure structural equipment and constructions related to wind and solar pv power;
• Establish and maintain excellent communications with stakeholders (internal: colleagues and partners, and external: clients, suppliers, authorities, etc.);
• Contribute to project development activities such as: on site assessment, technical due diligence, procurement and construction of wind energy projects;
• Represent the company in meetings, events, seminars and field missions;
• Belgian HQ is located in Genk, Limburg province.

• Mechanical Engineer / Electromechanical Engineer / Civil engineer / Structural engineer;
• Ideally 3 to 5 years of professional experience – highly capable junior engineers are welcome to apply; knowledge of wind turbine tower and foundations is an asset;
• Excellent communication skills in the English a.nd/or French language;
• Ability to write high quality reports;
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, critical thinking;
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work within multi-disciplinary project teams and the ability to function independently;
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and specialized engineering software such as AutoCAD, Ansys and/or Solidworks;
• Ability to model and simulate complex structures and assess them by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA);
• Ability to collaborate with and work alongside coworkers in a variety of fields including site development, infrastructure design and construction;
• Creative, detail oriented, committed, reliable, proactive and energetic;
• Ability to travel 10%.
